Going back to the rock
Tara McDonald

Tara McDonald (Tarzan Jungle Queen), 32, has lived in Darwin for just over six years but her family hail from rural New South Wales. In the 1950s, her grandfather, a gemstone enthusiast, set out on an adventure that would take him to the Olgas and see him pocket a rare treasure. More than 60 years later, Tara discovers the same treasure and sets out on the same journey, guided by two mysterious photos.

Tara told her story live on Friday 1 December 2017 at SPUN at Darwin Festival themed 'Rewind' where we rewound back through Darwin’s history to celebrate 60 years of local government, shining a light on the stories that have helped shape this wild, vibrant town into what it is today.
